Feel confident in bare skin.
If you’ve found that dark spots or uneven patches keep returning despite your efforts, it is often because pigmentation has several different causes, and each one needs a different approach. We begin by imaging beneath the surface to identify which type you have, and then treat it in the same visit.
- Your assessment and your first treatment in the same visit
- Minimal to no downtime
- About 90 minutes with a degree-qualified dermal clinician
- Afterpay available
Pigmentation is among the concerns we treat most often, across all skin tones, from our clinic at 35 Douglas Parade, Williamstown 3016.

If we don’t think we can help your skin, we’ll tell you. The assessment exists so you can make an informed decision — including the decision not to go ahead.
Pigmentation is not one condition
Three clients, three different causes, each treated differently. All photographed in clinic and shared with permission. Results depend on skin type, pigmentation depth, hormones and home care, and will differ from person to person.
One visit, start to finish
About 90 minutes with a dermal clinician, and you leave with a diagnosis, a plan you understand and your first treatment already done.
Diagnostic imaging and baseline photographs
OBSERV 520 imaging photographs your skin under several light modes, revealing pigment sitting deep in the dermis as well as what shows on the surface. This is what separates melasma from sun damage from post-breakout marks, and we record baseline photographs at the same time.
Your assessment and plan
A dermal clinician talks you through the images and what is realistically achievable for your skin, then sets out your plan, including the pigment inhibitor and SPF routine that supports it at home.
Foundation Laser Treatment
Your first treatment follows in the same appointment, with no obligation to book a second. Five steps built around laser toning, set to what the imaging found, with any mild redness settling within a few hours.
The five steps of your treatment
Five steps, each adjusted to your skin on the day, so peel strength, laser settings and serums are not fixed. Most people describe the laser as a warm tingle rather than anything painful, and you can return to your day straight afterwards.
Double cleanse
Deep cleanse to prepare the skin.
Bespoke peel
Medium-strength medical grade peel.
Laser toning
FDA-cleared laser, targeting pigment.
Soothing mask
Calms and supports the barrier.
Booster serum
Protects and extends the result.
Why clients come to us
Considered, skin-preserving care.Clients come from across Melbourne’s west and beyond because pigmentation is one of the things we treat most, and we have built a reputation for careful, measured results on it. Our treatments work beneath the surface to support your skin’s own renewal rather than removing or wounding its outer layers, and the same small team of degree-qualified dermal clinicians and cosmetic nurses sees you at each visit.
Free street parking available. Allow up to 90 minutes.
Commonly treated here
- Melasma
- Sun damage and sunspots
- Age spots and freckling
- Post-inflammatory pigmentation after breakouts
- General uneven tone and dullness
Pigmentation is persistent and often hormonally driven. This visit tells you what yours would involve before you commit to anything.
Good to know
Is one treatment enough?
Not for deeper pigment. One treatment will leave your skin brighter and more even, and for surface pigment that is sometimes enough. Pigment sitting lower in the skin is cleared gradually, a layer at a time, so it needs a course rather than a single session, and it returns if what is driving it is left unaddressed. The imaging shows us which you have. At your assessment we will explain whether a course of treatments is required for your skin, what it would involve and why, including our Even Tone Program from $55 per week, and then leave the decision with you.
How many treatments will I need?
There is no honest answer to this before we have seen your skin. What is causing your pigmentation, how deep it sits, how long it has been there and how intensely it presents all change the number, and so do your skin tone, hormones and sun exposure. Most people need at least three clinical treatments spaced two to four weeks apart alongside home care.
What happens after I book?
You will get a confirmation with the time and address. Come with clean skin if you can, and bring the skincare you currently use. Allow about 90 minutes, and street parking is usually available out the front.
Does it hurt?
Most people find the treatment comfortable. Some notice minimal discomfort, usually described as a warm, tingling sensation. It is well tolerated and there is no downtime.
Is there any downtime?
Minimal to none. Occasionally there is slight redness, which typically settles within a few hours. Afterwards, use gentle skincare and avoid active ingredients for at least five days, and keep up your prescribed pigment inhibitor and SPF.
Is anything needed before I come in?
Avoid excessive sun exposure for at least five days beforehand. A pigment inhibitor and daily SPF are essential for this treatment, and your clinician will recommend what suits your skin at the consultation.
Does this work on darker or ethnic skin?
Yes. The laser we use is suitable across the full range of skin tones, and we treat deeper and ethnic skin regularly using settings matched to your tone and pigmentation type.
What makes your laser different?
Chosen for evidence few lasers can match. Terms like “Q-switched” and “picosecond” describe how a laser works, not how well it performs, and very few have the testing to prove they deliver. The laser we use is one of them: it was independently tested and became the first of its kind cleared by the US FDA to improve even melasma, one of the most stubborn forms of pigmentation, across all skin tones. Clearance is only part of it — treating deeper skin tones well depends on correct diagnosis and conservative, well-matched settings as much as on the machine, which is why the imaging comes first.
How is this different to Cosmelan?
Cosmelan can be effective, but it is a more intensive protocol and redness, peeling and inflammation are common. In reactive or mark-prone skin, that irritation can worsen pigmentation. Our approach adjusts the laser, peel and home care to your skin as it responds. Which suits you is what the assessment determines.
Why not a Pico laser?
Pico lasers are excellent for certain indications, but not automatically better than a premium Q-switched laser. For pigmentation, and melasma especially, the outcome depends more on diagnosis, protocol and home care than on the device category.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Afterpay is available online and in clinic.
If you want to go further
One treatment will give your skin a lift, and for some that’s enough. Lasting change usually takes a course, and we’d rather you heard that from us now than after you’ve come in.
How long yours would take depends on your skin, which we’ll explain at the end of your visit, along with a treatment plan tailored to your skin. The decision, and the timing of it, is entirely yours.
What shapes your plan
- The cause. Melasma, sun damage and post-breakout marks each behave differently.
- The depth. Pigment in the deeper layers takes longer to shift.
- How long it has been there. Longstanding pigmentation needs more time.
- The intensity. Denser pigment usually calls for more sessions.
- Your skin tone. Deeper tones need more conservative settings.
- Hormones and sun exposure. Both can drive pigment back.
Until we can see beneath the surface, any estimate of how many treatments you need is guesswork.
